Japanese artist Hal has his own method of keeping love ‘fresh’ in his portrait series ‘Flesh Love’, where he photographs vacuum-sealed couples in intimate embrace, to repersent their love lasting. “When you embrace your lover, sometimes you wish to melt right into them." I love illustrated presents from Nobrow Press...

Being a busy bee sometimes has it downsides, as a few weeks ago I missed out on the Quodlibet by Katja Spitzer exhibition launch with Nobrow at The Book Club, which is on until the 15 of Jan (so go check it if you can!). But alas not all was lost, as I hear the night was a success and a few days later I received this beautifully illustrated Quodilbet book and colourful foldout by Micah Lidberg...

The Minotaur...

Last night I went to the impressive labyrinth cultural spectacular The Minotaur. Set in the Old Vic Tunnels beneath the railway at Waterloo station, the exhibition is a series of installations, giant frescos, interactive exhibits and unique renditions featuring the artists of Lazarides Gallery Group alongside the culinary adventurism of Kofler & Kompanie's Pret A Diner.It's random things like this that makes me love living in London...

Meeting of Styles...

On Saturday I went along to the aerosol showcase Meeting of Styles. It was very impressive and interesting to see the different styles of each artist and a rainbow pallet of colours that went on forever...

Super-String...

During the London Design Festival my Friend Ed had fantastic steel sculpture called 'Super-String' which was a blend art, design engineering and parametric modelling. I had a 5min coffee break interview with him:

Who are you? My name is Edoardo Tibuzzi

What do you do? I am part of a special unit in my company (AKT II), we research, develop, design and study complex geometry structures.

What is Super-String? A modular construction formed into a branching chain of units, where each can rotate to give different three dimensional configurations. In physics Super-String Theory is a model for the fundamental structure of matter where all of the particles and forces of nature are represented as vibrations of tiny supersymmetric strings. How many nuts and bolts are in the struc-ulpture We used around 3000 and it is 8m L x 5m W x 2.4m H.

London Design Festival at Testbed1...

My favourite part of the London Design Festival last week was the Will Alsop ‘A Few Friends Friends’ exhibition at Testbed1 in an ex-dairy space in Battersea. There was a whiff of Arts Lab and a 60s vibe happening about the place. Artist's exhibiting included, Will Alsop, Vivienne Westwood and Squint Opera. There was interesting art and delicious food from Street Kitchen! My Friend Ed had a sculpture there and I'll be doing a more in dept review about it next week...

Hackey WickED Festival 2011...

My first assignment for Rooms Magazine, was to take some photos of Hackney WickED Festival 2011, which celebrated the work of the hundreds of local artists and galleries in East London. As well as the art, there were cinematic events, live music, fetes, markets and food stalls. With the fantastic weather and alternative clusters of happy arty people the festival vibe was excellent and it reminded me of the grittiness of Shoreditch before it became urber cool ...
