Monday was the start of National Baking Week 2011. The launch event in London was at St Pancras station where a bunch of talented cooks made a map of the London Underground out of cake. With cheeky tube names like Charing Hot Cross Bun, Victoria Sponge and Swiss Roll Cottage, it's pure genius and time for me to get baking...

If you haven't been to M&M world in Leicester Square, wait until the end of the year as it's pretty cool, but they won't have peanut butter M&M's until December (come on M&M organiser's seriously every flavour and colour but no peanut better ones?)...

I heart Kimbo Bimbo cupcakes, they are scrumilicious and can be found at the Sunday Backyard Market on Bricklane...
Kooky Bakes...ummmmmm
At the Sunday Up Market down Bricklane I came across these appetising interesting treats from Kooky Bakes. The baking has a mind of it's own when it comes to combinations, from the fruit loop and rice bubble slice to the junkfood cookies which contain pretzels, crisps, m&ms and chocolate buttons.
My mouth is awake...
On Saturday I stumbled across the french food shop Lorchidee at the Covent Garden Market (open 10.30am - 6pm) and bought these delicitable little morsels. They were so delicious I went back for round two... I recommend the caramel macaroon and at 70p each how can I not resist going back and trying other flavours...

At 11am (10am on Sundays) the St James Palace detachment of the Old Guard forms up in Friary Court before marching off via Stable Yard Gate and along the Mall to join up with the rest of the Old Guard waiting in the forecourt at Buckingham Palace. I need to do this again and practice taking photos… - The Monument
The Monument, commemorates the Great Fire of 1666 and is often attributed to Christopher Wren - who choose its location 202 feet from the baker's shop in Pudding Lane where the fire originated. If I climb the 311 steps to the top I will be rewarded with a certificate, as well a wonderful view of London. Better make sure I wear my running shoes for this one eh…
